SAMY was born in 1974 from Egyptian parents in London and immediately adopted into an Anglo-Australian family. It was evident from an early age that he was very creative but it wasn’t until he went to live in Australia in his early 20s that he started to fully express himself creatively, as both an artist and a musician.

With regards to painting, he says this about himself –
“I was living and working with the indigenous Aborigines in Australia and their art and music had a profound effect on me. I also had the fortune to befriend an up and coming artist in Sydney and I watched him grow from a struggling artist to an internationally renowned figure. His art and personality still inspire me to this day. ”

“I love to use earthy colours and have been likened to Bridget Reilly and Victor Vaselli for my tendency to create optical illusions. I am a self taught artist and am not bound by traditional techniques, which allows me to experiment with ideas that would not normally go together. I also love hiding words in my pieces, but they are not always easy to find unless you know what you are looking for”.

SAMY is also a self taught musician and singer/songwriter and has been a resident in Ibiza for almost 20 years.
